Capital for compute and research
Anthropic announced on 28 May that it had raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation. Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital led the round. Anthropic said the money would support safety and interpretability research, more computing capacity, and expansion of the products and partnerships through which customers use Claude. What the headline amount includes
The total includes $15 billion of previously committed investments from hyperscalers, including $5 billion from Amazon. Those commitments should not be added again to the headline round as separate new capital. Anthropic also reported that its revenue run rate had crossed $47 billion earlier in May; an annualised run rate describes the pace of business, rather than completed full-year revenue. The company links the financing to compute agreements with Amazon, Google and Broadcom, and SpaceX. That makes access to infrastructure a central part of the announcement, alongside the change in private-company valuation. Anthropic funding announcement.
