Assistive tools get more context

Apple previewed accessibility updates on 19 May, including more detailed AI-generated descriptions in VoiceOver and Magnifier. The company described follow-up questions about a camera view and spoken controls for Magnifier, plus natural-language navigation changes in Voice Control and Accessibility Reader.

Apple also announced on-device subtitles for previously uncaptioned video and a way to control compatible powered wheelchairs with Apple Vision Pro using eye input. The software features were scheduled for later in the year. That timing separates an accessibility commitment from immediate availability on a user’s current device. The practical value depends on supported hardware, languages and the accuracy of descriptions in the situations where someone relies on them; a product preview does not establish those results for every user.
