The development
Aurelius Systems said it closed a $40 million Series A co-led by Draper Associates and KAS Venture Partners. General Catalyst and Hanwha Asset Management Venture Fund were among the other participants in the August 5 financing.
The company is developing Archimedes, a directed-energy platform for counter-drone defence. It plans to put the funding toward technical development, manufacturing capacity and vertical integration, including reducing dependence on suppliers for critical components. It also intends to broaden its product offering and enter additional markets. Aurelius reported 19 employees at the announcement and expected that number to exceed 40 by year-end. The financing supports a move toward repeatable production; the announcement’s descriptions of testing and integration milestones are company statements rather than an independent assessment of performance.
