A dedicated data compartment
OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health on 7 January, creating a separate space for health conversations and connected information. The company said users could link records and wellness apps, with health chats excluded from foundation-model training. Initial access was limited to a small early-user group outside the EEA, Switzerland and UK.
The service was described as support for understanding information and preparing for care, not a tool for diagnosis or treatment. Medical-record integrations and some apps were US-only, while Apple Health connection required iOS. An update on the same source records a later US launch in July; that should not be confused with broad availability in January. The product’s safeguards and intended use are relevant parts of the announcement, not evidence that every answer is medically correct.
