From a request to a deliverable

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work on 9 July, describing an agent that can gather material across connected apps and produce documents, spreadsheets, slides or web applications. The same announcement merged the Codex app into a broader ChatGPT desktop experience, keeping a dedicated Codex area for development.

Desktop access covered Windows and Mac, including Free plans, while web and mobile rollout began with selected paid and organisational plans before expanding. Plugins supplied connections to tools and data; scheduled tasks could continue work away from the immediate conversation. Those integrations do not grant unlimited access to an organisation’s systems. The workflow still depends on connected accounts, relevant permissions and review of important actions. The launch changes the range of work inside the application, beyond a conventional chat reply.
