Finding where cryptography is actually used

Cloudflare described CryptoLabe on 29 September, an internal tool supporting its post-quantum migration. The company wants to locate cryptographic uses across repositories, distinguish classical and post-quantum components and identify dependencies that block upgrades. Some cryptographic choices sit in shared libraries, protocol defaults or configuration outside the application’s own code.

An internal map, not a customer release

CryptoLabe is tailored to Cloudflare’s repositories, tickets and documentation and is not being offered to customers. The work supports the company’s stated 2029 readiness target. Inventory results are useful because changing a product can depend on a library, a protocol or another vendor first gaining support. The announcement describes discovery and coordination work; it does not mean every cryptographic dependency on Cloudflare’s platform has already migrated.
