Funding the infrastructure layer

Deepgram announced a $130 million Series C on 13 January at a $1.3 billion valuation. AVP led the round, with existing backers and strategic investors including Twilio, ServiceNow Ventures, SAP and Citi Ventures participating. The announcement also covers its acquisition of OfOne, a specialist in voice technology for restaurant drive-throughs.

APIs and deployment

Deepgram said more than 1,300 organisations used its APIs for speech recognition, speech generation and related voice services. Its planned Powered by Deepgram programme extends that infrastructure proposition to partners. The OfOne acquisition gives the company a more specific operating setting in restaurants, where an ordering system has to connect speech with the rest of a transaction. The release does not disclose the acquisition price.
