Continue an existing scene
Google introduced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash on 27 August, adding scene extension in ten-second increments up to forty seconds. The model can examine ten seconds of prior context when continuing a clip. First- and last-frame controls also help constrain a transition, while 360p drafts offer a quicker iteration path before 4K upscaling.
The update reached developers through the Gemini API in AI Studio. It addresses several concrete production problems: deciding a scene’s duration, steering how it ends and avoiding expensive high-resolution generations while a concept is still changing. Google describes improved consistency across extensions, which remains a quality claim requiring review of the resulting footage. Upscaling and a longer timeline do not by themselves guarantee coherent motion or a successful edit.
