The business
Hellbender closed a $12.5 million seed round co-led by Magarac Venture Partners and Veredas Partners, announcing the financing on May 19. The money will support its edge AI product rollout, hiring and US hardware manufacturing.
The company has built custom computer-vision systems for robotics customers and is now packaging that work into a broader camera range. It announced stereo, distributed-monitoring and compact cameras built around Hailo accelerators and Raspberry Pi compute. Hellbender said the stereo system was in a utility pilot, while its distributed camera system was being piloted in retail and assisted-living settings. Pre-orders were scheduled to start in June. The commercial shift is from bespoke engineering projects toward products other teams can integrate into their own applications.
