An assistant that follows a schedule

Meta announced new task-running capabilities for Meta AI on 24 July, powered by Muse Spark 1.1. Its newsroom post described connections to email and calendar apps, recurring briefings, research and slide creation.

Users could describe a task and when they wanted updates, with the assistant returning to it on a schedule. Meta also said people could redirect an in-progress report or presentation, and return to generated work from a shared collection of their outputs.

Availability remained selective

The features began rolling out in selected markets through the Meta AI app and website. Expansion to additional countries and services, including WhatsApp, was a stated plan. Meta’s examples illustrate what it intended the assistant to do, rather than establish independent results for every task. The release moved scheduled work and connected personal information into the consumer assistant; whether a particular user could use it depended on that staged rollout. Scheduled output also requires users to specify the timing and task clearly.
