The operations desk becomes a product boundary

Microsoft announced an integrated security operations centre, ISOC, within Defender on 23 September. The company describes a shared foundation for security-information management, threat protection and agentic investigation, intended to reduce handoffs between separate systems.

A new workflow still needs evaluation

The announcement connects the offering with Project Perception, introduced in July, and argues that agents need common signals and context to act usefully. These are Microsoft’s product plans and architectural claims. A buyer’s relevant tests concern data coverage, investigation continuity and which actions an agent is permitted to take in the actual environment. Combining products under one interface does not by itself demonstrate the quality of an investigation or response.
