Search, inspect, verify

Mistral introduced Agentic Search on 20 August through Search Toolkit and Libraries in Studio and Vibe. The system adds a multi-step retrieval loop with search, open, navigate, read and grep tools. It is designed to inspect relevant passages and tables after an initial search, instead of answering solely from a fixed group of retrieved chunks.

Mistral reported stronger results on FinanceBench and OfficeQA Pro, alongside lower token use and latency. These are results from the company’s stated comparisons, not a guarantee for every private document collection. The design can build on an existing search index and work within cloud or on-premises isolation boundaries. That makes the quality of the index, document parsing and access permissions part of the system’s performance, rather than a problem solved by the reasoning model alone.
