The development
Multiply Labs announced a $75 million Series B led by Patrick Soon-Shiong, with participation from NantWorks, AstraZeneca, Lingotto, Teradyne and other investors. The October 6 round takes the company’s total funding above $100 million since its founding in 2016.
Its robotic systems are designed to automate biologics manufacturing using instruments and processes that pharmaceutical companies already employ. Customers own and operate the robotic clusters; Multiply Labs is supplying manufacturing infrastructure rather than taking over drug production as an outsourced service. The company plans to use the money to expand capacity, develop its product roadmap and hire across engineering, regulatory and commercial functions as customers move from clinical work toward commercial production.
