Speed and access

Google released Nano Banana 2, also called Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, on 26 February. It brought image generation and editing to Gemini, Search, Ads and developer services, with API and Vertex AI access labelled preview. In Gemini, it replaced Nano Banana Pro across the Fast, Thinking and Pro model choices; eligible Pro and Ultra subscribers retained a route to regenerate with Pro.

The model supports image-search grounding, text rendering and resolutions from 512 pixels to 4K. Google also claims improved consistency for recurring characters and objects. Those capabilities can shorten iteration, but they do not make generated diagrams fact-checked reference material. Google pairs SynthID watermarking with Content Credentials as part of its provenance approach.
