The final funding announcement

OpenAI said on 31 March that it had closed its latest round with $122 billion in committed capital at an $852 billion post-money valuation. Amazon, NVIDIA and SoftBank anchored the financing, with continued participation from Microsoft. OpenAI said it had also raised more than $3 billion from individual investors through bank channels, broadening the round’s investor base. OpenAI funding announcement.

Capital and a credit facility

The company separately expanded its revolving credit facility to approximately $4.7 billion. That facility remained undrawn at closing, so it should not be counted as cash borrowed or added to the equity round. OpenAI presents durable access to compute as a central objective, describing a wider portfolio of cloud, chip and data-centre partners. Its announcement also reported $2 billion in monthly revenue at that point. That is OpenAI’s own financial disclosure, rather than an independently audited comparison with rivals. The financing gives the company additional committed resources for infrastructure, research and product development. OpenAI funding announcement.
