The development

Rebellions announced the acquisition of SqueezeBits on June 30, adding an AI model-compression and inference-optimisation team to its semiconductor business. The announcement did not disclose a purchase price.

The companies had worked together since 2024 on model compression and dedicated software for Rebellions’ neural processing units. Their collaboration also included Korean developer events around the open-source vLLM inference ecosystem. Rebellions wants to supply more of the path from an incoming AI request to a returned result, combining hardware, optimisation and serving rather than leaving customers to assemble those layers separately. SqueezeBits brings experience adapting models to different hardware environments. The acquisition makes that software capability part of Rebellions itself, with deployment cost and complexity central to the proposed customer benefit.
