Runway raises $315 million to train its next world models

General Atlantic leads a round with chip and creative-software investors.

The announcement

Runway announced $315 million in Series E funding on 10 February. General Atlantic led the round, with participation from investors including NVIDIA, Adobe Ventures, AMD Ventures, Fidelity, AllianceBernstein and Premji Invest. Runway said the capital would pay for pre-training another generation of world models and bringing them into new products and industries.

The short announcement does not give a valuation, model-release date or spending breakdown. Its focus is the research and infrastructure needed before a product release. That makes it a financing event rather than a specification sheet for a new video model. Investors from both computing and creative software are participating in the same round.
