Cash stays closer to sales
Stripe launched Treasury in Australia on 19 August. The service lets businesses accept payments, hold and convert balances, and pay recipients from the Stripe Dashboard. The company said users could receive and hold AUD, USD, GBP and EUR, with conversion across ten supported currencies.
What changes for a business
Stripe says the arrangement gives businesses immediate access to incoming revenue for supplier and contractor payments, rather than waiting for settlement into an external bank account. It describes recipient coverage in nearly 100 countries. A separate Treasury for Platforms offering, which would let platforms embed accounts for their own customers, was scheduled for later in the year. The August launch and that subsequent platform plan are different availability commitments.
