Beyond a video export

Synthesia announced a $200 million Series E on 26 January at a $4 billion valuation. Existing investor GV led the financing, with participation from Evantic, Hedosophia and other investors. The company describes the funding as support for its enterprise video platform and a broader set of workplace-learning products.

The proposed next step

Synthesia wants training to become more interactive, including conversational agents that employees can use to practise and learn. That ambition extends the business beyond generating a video from a script. The financing announcement confirms new capital and a transaction valuation; it does not establish that every proposed training product was generally available on the announcement date. Buyers still need to evaluate the specific product, controls and deployment terms being offered.
