More investigation before the testnet upgrade
Ethereum developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi test network, the Ethereum Foundation announced on October 22. The activation had been scheduled for October 26; the foundation said a replacement date had not yet been set.
Core developers delayed the test to investigate how EIP-8037 interacts with existing mainnet smart contracts. The change removes the previously scheduled execution and consensus layer activations from Hoodi’s configuration, along with a planned increase in the testnet gas limit. It does not roll back Hoodi’s chain history, the foundation said.
Hoodi node and validator operators were advised to follow their client teams’ updated release notes and ensure their software reflects the revised configuration. The announcement concerns a test network: it does not establish a mainnet activation date, and the foundation said ordinary Ethereum mainnet users and ETH holders do not need to act because of this update.
