A financing vehicle for AI compute
Bank of America, Blackstone, Citi and Morgan Stanley have announced a $63 billion financing structure to support AI computing capacity for Anthropic using Broadcom technology. The October 26 announcement outlines a vehicle that will purchase Broadcom AI accelerators and networking equipment and lease them to the Claude developer.
The partners said a newly formed special purpose vehicle will make the purchases, with deliveries expected to begin in 2027. Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley are arranging the first-lien financing, while Blackstone is providing the committed portion of the second-lien financing. Broadcom is providing residual-value support equivalent to the first-lien portion.
The transaction illustrates the scale of capital required to build AI infrastructure and the increasingly prominent role of financial firms in funding it. The announced figure describes the financing structure for the hardware, rather than a direct equity investment in Anthropic; the deployment schedule remains a forward-looking plan.
