Connecting existing payment services

Circle announced a collaboration with Sasai Fintech on 24 March to explore USDC use across African payment corridors. Sasai, part of Cassava Technologies, operates business payments, cross-border transfers and mobile-wallet services. The proposed integration would connect those services with Circle’s stablecoin infrastructure.

A collaboration, with work ahead

The companies say they want to reduce settlement time and payment friction for enterprise and consumer customers. The release describes exploration of practical applications, rather than a completed, continent-wide rollout. It supplies no corridor-by-corridor availability list, fee schedule or measured savings. The useful development is the combination of an established regional payments operation with a dollar-stablecoin issuer, with the eventual customer experience still dependent on implementation.
