What was announced

Tether announced an investment in EFY Finance as part of the company’s seed round on October 13. It did not disclose the amount invested. The stated aim is to expand institutional use of USDT and USAT across Latin America.

EFY supplies cross-border payments, accounts and digital-asset custody infrastructure. According to the announcement, its services include stablecoin on- and off-ramps, wallets and cards, with local-account settlement in 17 countries. Tether highlighted EFY’s presence in markets including Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Panama and Ecuador. The investment backs the banking connections and local distribution around stablecoin transactions. Tether’s participation does not make the tokens government-guaranteed deposits, and the announcement describes an expansion objective rather than a completed region-wide rollout.
