Coinbase launches SpaceX price
Coinbase announced pre-IPO perpetual futures on 3 June, starting with a contract referencing SpaceX’s implied valuation. Eligible customers outside the US can obtain price exposure through a USDC-settled derivative. The product trades without a conventional expiry date, with an automatic transition mechanism tied to a subsequent IPO.
This is not a purchase of SpaceX equity and provides no shareholder rights. Coinbase’s disclosure identifies particular risks from the valuation-based index, IPO conversion, limited liquidity, volatility and liquidation. The contracts are offered through Coinbase Bermuda in supported jurisdictions and are unavailable to US persons. The announcement is a new trading instrument, not confirmation that private shares have become generally available through a brokerage account.
