TRUST launches a hub

Coinbase announced TRUSThub on 28 May, extending the industry network used to exchange Travel Rule information between virtual-asset service providers. The hub is designed to connect counterparties using different compliance tools, including those without the same underlying system. The update also announced BNY’s membership and a partnership with 21 Analytics.

TRUST describes its design as peer-to-peer, rather than a central database of sensitive customer data. The network’s expansion is intended to address gaps between jurisdictions implementing transfer-information requirements at different times. That is an infrastructure function, not a replacement for an institution’s own compliance assessment. Requirements and thresholds still vary, and a connected counterparty does not by itself establish that every transfer is permissible.
