A high-cache desktop part
AMD released the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition on 22 April, putting second-generation 3D V-Cache on both chiplets of a desktop processor for the first time. The 16-core, 32-thread Zen 5 chip has 208MB of total cache, a listed 200W TDP and a $899 suggested price. AMD said it was available through retailers and OEM systems, including Alienware.
AMD’s own tests show 5% to 8% average gains over the prior generation in selected creator and compilation workloads. Those are vendor benchmarks on specified systems, not a broad estimate for every game or application. The product is aimed at workloads that benefit from keeping more data close to the CPU cores.
