A suite across Mac and iPad
Apple announced Creator Studio on 13 January, grouping Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro with additional creative tools and premium features for its productivity apps. The release set availability for 28 January at $12.99 a month or $129 a year in the United States.
The package includes the three main creative apps on Mac and iPad, with Motion, Compressor and MainStage on Mac. Pixelmator Pro’s arrival on iPad was part of the announcement.
Subscription and ownership coexist
Apple retained one-time purchases of the Mac creative applications. Free versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform also continued, while the subscription added premium content and features. That distinction lets an existing app owner assess the bundle without assuming the purchase has been replaced. For people working across video, music and images, the change is one bill covering several tools, with device compatibility and the particular applications needed determining its value. Existing owners retain that comparison.
