A faster chip and a familiar size
Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with its M6 chip on 27 October. The laptop starts at $1,999 in the United States, with preorders beginning on 28 October and availability from 6 November, according to the company.
The M6 has a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Apple claims up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster AI workloads than the M5, based on its own testing. The computer also adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and retains a Liquid Retina XDR display, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and a six-speaker audio system.
What buyers should compare
Apple says the machine can run large language models locally and advertises battery life of up to 24 hours. Both performance and battery figures depend on the workload and test conditions; independent reviews will be needed to see how the laptop performs in everyday use.
The starting price applies to the US base configuration. Buyers comparing upgrades should check memory, storage and local pricing alongside the headline processor improvements. Apple lists space black and silver finishes and says the laptop ships with macOS 27.
