Hardware before every promised app
Samsung announced Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 on 22 July, using Snapdragon Wear Elite across the lineup. The company highlighted longer wear, revised health sensing and more detailed activity tracking. Ultra2’s outdoor features include elevation and terrain data for trail running, alongside a brighter display.
The Ultra2 also carries stated diving certifications and can track depth, time and water temperature. More advanced features in the dedicated Ultra2 Diving app were scheduled for later in the year, rather than all arriving with the announcement. Samsung’s health guidance remains a device and software feature with eligibility conditions, not a clinical diagnosis. For a buyer, the practical comparison includes the specific sports workflow, regional services and which functions are already released.
