A preview of the interface
Google introduced Googlebook on 12 May, describing laptops that combine elements of Android and ChromeOS with Gemini Intelligence. The preview includes Magic Pointer, which offers contextual actions around a selected screen item, and prompt-created widgets that organise information from connected apps.
Google also described access to phone apps and files from the laptop, with hardware partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Devices were planned for the autumn; the May announcement did not provide a completed global retail rollout or a universal starting price. That makes it a platform preview rather than a buying guide for a finished product. The design shifts more of the workflow toward contextual assistance while keeping cross-device access central to the proposal.
