What changed
Intel announced Xeon 600 processors for client workstations on 2 February. The new family supports Intel’s W890 platform and scales to 86 performance cores and 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes. Intel said boxed processors and OEM systems would begin shipping in late March, giving workstation builders an updated option for heavily threaded rendering, simulation and engineering work.
Core count and lane totals describe the top configuration, not every Xeon 600 chip. Buyers should compare the exact processor, memory support and workstation design, while Intel’s launch performance claims remain vendor benchmarks tied to specific systems.
