The camera changes physically
Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max on 9 September, adding variable aperture to the 48-megapixel main camera. The release also introduced A20 Pro and a redesigned vapour chamber intended to sustain performance through demanding use.
Both models use Apple’s N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. The C2 modem adds another Apple-designed component to the phone’s communications hardware, with mmWave support specified for the United States.
Software has its own conditions
The phones shipped with iOS 27 and Siri AI rolling out in beta. Apple describes personal-context features across messages, email and photos, supported by on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute. Such features have availability conditions separate from owning the device. Apple scheduled preorders for 12 September and availability for 18 September. Its performance and battery improvements remain company test claims; the announced hardware changes can be assessed separately from those comparative results. A camera specification does not settle the quality of a particular image.
