A larger screen that folds

Apple introduced iPhone Duo on 9 September as its first foldable iPhone. The announcement specifies a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, powered by A20 Pro with a vapour chamber and a dual-battery design.

The software adapts iOS 27 for the folding device, while Touch ID sits in the side button. Apple describes both displays as sharing an aspect ratio so content can scale between them. The announcement also places Apple Pencil support later in the year.

The launch calendar matters

As of this archive’s 14 October cutoff, the announced preorder date of 16 October and availability date of 23 October are still ahead. This is a report of the product announcement, not a claim that customers have already received it. Apple’s durability and battery statements come from the company. The new form factor is consequential, while retail availability and later software features must be tracked on their own schedules. Announcement and retail launch are separate events.
