Connections and configuration

Apple introduced Mac mini models with M6 and M5 Pro on 25 August, opening orders ahead of 22 September availability. Both add Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and standard 2.5Gb Ethernet, with 10Gb Ethernet available as an option. The M6 configuration starts with 16GB of unified memory and can reach 32GB.

The M6 chip has a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators in its GPU cores. Apple describes the machine as suitable for always-on agents as well as conventional desktop work. That positioning does not remove software, permissions or model-memory requirements. The network upgrade is independently useful for a desk connected to fast local storage or other computers, while M5 Pro serves buyers needing a larger compute configuration.
