What changed
Samsung introduced SmartThings Now on 6 October, adding personalized action cards and a new home view that surfaces device status and controls. The company says users can create routines and reach frequently used devices from the cards; supported hubs also retain local controls when internet access is unavailable. Samsung says the redesigned flow improves response time by 30 percent, a company-reported result rather than an independent test.
The same platform update adds support for Matter 1.6 device types including energy meters, closures, irrigation and soil sensors. Those additions matter most to households with compatible products already connected to SmartThings; the announcement does not imply that every appliance gains these controls. Features vary by device, hub and market.
