The changes begin with processing
Sony announced WF-1000XM6 wireless earbuds on 12 February, combining its new QN3e noise-cancelling processor with the Integrated Processor V2. The European launch release lists four microphones per earbud, a revised shape and a larger antenna than the previous model.
Sony claims a further reduction in ambient noise compared with WF-1000XM5. That assessment comes from Sony’s testing, and the benefit for a listener depends on the noise environment and fit. The announcement also describes a bone-conduction sensor and voice-processing features for calls.
Assistant support requires a phone
Gemini access requires a compatible Android phone, the Gemini app, a Google account and internet connectivity. It is not an independent assistant operating entirely inside the earbuds. Sony advertised up to eight hours of listening and 24 hours including the case with noise cancellation and Bluetooth enabled. European suggested prices were €300 and £250, with availability planned during February. The earbuds and the compatible phone supply different parts of that experience.
